Jamboree Day

Saturday 12th May saw Link Leisure's first Jamboree at the New Horizons building in Woking.

On the (mostly) sunny afternoon, 29 teenagers took part in a variety of activities such as kebab-making, street dance, tent-pitching and a drama workshop with Scarab theatre co. from the Nomad Theatre.

The aim of the day was to show the teens exactly what was available for the youth age-group at Link Leisure, and to talk about new ideas and find out what they wanted from their club, Link Leisure.

Dave and I were overwhelmed with positive feedback from the day, and were really impressed by the variety of ideas the young people gave us, and everyone's willingness to contribute to the discussions.

We would like to thank Hannah from the YPod for coming to do such a great street dance session for us, and to Scarab theatre co. who we have forged great links with here.

Also, thank you to everyone who attended this day and made it such a great success.

We will definitely be looking to repeat this day, hopefully a bit later in the summer.
